The essay describes Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and Baldassarre Peruzzi’s attitudes in designing less valuable buildings placed in the consolidated urban fabric. Through some examples, it is possible to highlight their use of solution strategies to deal with planning problems due to surrounding pre-existing buildings. It’s also possible to observe the ambition to ennoble these residences by using elements inspired by ancient architecture and by adopting the language of the emerging architecture in the Early Modern age.
